STOP, Keep Still and Wait On The Lord (Katie Riley)

Often we are so busy trying to make a living that we forget to live. We focus on work, school, bills, food, clothes, things for the house, car, making ourselves look good, making our children happy; we are constantly on the move. Then COVID brought a new focus; wearing masks, sanitizing, social distancing, vaccines; a struggle to stay healthy and alive, worry for loved ones: family and friends.

Life now seems turbulent, the curfews, the lock downs, loss of jobs, lack of finances, hunger, online school, working from at home, loss of freedom, loneliness, separation from family, friends, colleagues, uncertainties, worry, physical aches and pains from sitting and staring at a screen, COVID fatigue, mental exhaustion, stress, depression and the list goes on.

But there is good news amidst all this. In the Bible, Jesus spoke to the waves and the wind and they obeyed;

Mark 4:39 (KJV) Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

This reminds us that Jesus can calm the storms in our lives, all we need to do is be still and know that He is God and that He is able.

Psalm 46:10 (KJV) Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Psalm 37:7 (NIV) Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

SO STOP! stop the worrying, stop the stressing, stop the struggling, stop the anxiety, stop the depression, stop the fretting, stop the doubt, stop the fears, stop the tears, stop the panic, stop the negativity, stop anything that is preventing you from being calm and peaceful. STOP: KEEP STILL AND WAIT ON THE LORD!

Exodus 14:14 (NIV) The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
