God's love is like a girdle, it uplifts, supports and secures.
Women have been wearing girdles throughout the centuries. A girdle is a support garment that is worn under women's clothes to smooth and shape their figures, therefore giving them a level of confidence in their appearance.
God's love is like a girdle. It uplifts us when we are pressed down under life's cares and the burden of our sins. 'The LORD upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down'. Psalm 145:14 (NIV)
God's love supports us when we are at our weakest, when doubts and uncertainties fill our hearts. "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)
God's love secures, He wants us to trust Him with our lives. He longs to take our worries, fears and anxieties to give us the peace that restores. "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)
His love will smooth and shape us into our best selves. Then we will step out in confidence knowing that no matter what comes our way we are safe and secure in God's love.
Hence so we know we can rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 1 John 4:16 (NIV)
